The Indian automotive industry is expected to introduce an extensive array of new cars in India during the course of 2024. Even the official debut of some automakers' future models in 2024 has been revealed. Furthermore, it is expected that these new models would open doors for top automakers to enter the nation's expanding EV sector, where EV sales now account for about 7 per cent of total vehicle sales. Here's a list of several brand-new as well as facelifted models that India will be getting this year.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Swift, one of the most well-liked hatchbacks from the Maruti Suzuki line, is almost ready to launch in a new configuration. It will probably debut in India in the first half of 2024. The details were provided during the recently concluded Tokyo Motor Show, where the fourth-generation Swift made its premiere. That being said, the production version of the car will likely maintain the same design. But it's probably going to get some tweaks, like a new grille, more aggressive headlights and taillights, updated bumpers, alloy wheels, and more. Inside, additional changes include a three-spoke steering wheel, a redesigned console for AC functions, and a floating touchscreen infotainment system.

A brand-new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine will power the 2024 Swift. This engine is expected to provide the best low-end torque and fuel efficiency for city driving thanks to its dual-purpose architecture. The new-gen Swift might carry an ex-showroom price tag ranging between Rs 6 and Rs 9 lakh with these numerous modifications. A potent hybrid powertrain is probably in the works in addition to a petrol mill.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door

2023 Mahindra Thar Front View

A highly anticipated debut for 2024 is the Mahindra Thar 5-door. Several observations of the SUV test mule have revealed various details, such as an LED lighting configuration and a fixed metal top including a sunroof. Mahindra's forthcoming Thar is expected to come with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options as its 3-door counterpart, albeit with a slightly different tuning. While the latter cranks out 300Nm of torque and 130bhp of maximum power, the former produces 150bhp and 300–320Nm of peak torque. There will be manual and automatic transmission choices for both engines. Furthermore, the Mahindra SUV will likely be offered with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) options. When it launches, the pricing of the new off-roader is anticipated to range from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (both, ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta Facelift

Hyundai Creta Facelift 2

The Indian market is anticipating the arrival of the Creta 2024 on January 16. The medium-sized SUV will most likely see some cosmetic adjustments over the previous generation model. Among these are new front and rear bumpers, a revamped grille, new alloy wheels, and updated front and rear LED lighting. A 360-degree camera, new upholstery, an ADAS package, a redesigned dashboard and centre console, and other features are all expected to be incorporated with the new Creta. It is believed that the car will continue to be available with 1.5-litre NA petrol and diesel engines. Maybe a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a seven-speed DCT transmission or a six-speed manual would be offered. According to estimates, the SUV will cost Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom) when it launches.

Kia EV9

Kia EV9

Last year, Kia debuted its flagship electric vehicle, the Kia EV9, on an international scale. The three-row all-electric SUV can be driven with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), and it offers multiple battery and electric motor options. A range of more than 541-kilometre is claimed for the Kia EV9, depending on the engine option chosen. It is an electric vehicle that can replace the high-end, globally available Kia Telluride SUV, which comes equipped with a multitude of comfort and safety technologies. It is anticipated that Kia will ship the EV9 to the Indian shores using the completely built-up unit (CBU) route.

Mahindra XUV.e8

Mahindra XUV E8

A highly anticipated all-new electric SUV, the Mahindra XUV.e8, is scheduled to launch in 2024. It was unveiled as a pre-production concept vehicle last year and is essentially the Mahindra XUV700 all-electric. This electric SUV is built on the manufacturer's INGLO platform, which provides up to 175kW of quick charging. The larger battery has a WLTP-certified range of up to 450 kilometers. The next Mahindra XUV.e8 is likely to be available in both electric and hybrid versions. The electric version is anticipated to include an 80kWh battery pack that can produce power between 230 and 345bhp. According to reports, the new electric vehicle would have a wheelbase of 2,762mm and a length of approximately 4,740mm.

New Renault Duster

Dacia Renault Duster Front 1

Dacia unveiled the third-generation Duster to the world in 2023. The international-spec version boasts numerous exterior and interior enhancements over its predecessor, all wrapped up in a sleek and robust exterior design. The SUV was introduced globally with multiple powertrain options: a powerful 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder hybrid petrol engine coupled with two electric motors via a 1.2kWh battery pack; a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol drivetrain mated to a 48V mild hybrid setup; and a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG engine (in certain regions). India will likely receive the mild hybrid drivetrain, although no official announcement has been made yet.

The redesigned Renault Duster might go on sale in India in 2025, with an anticipated starting price of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). When the SUV is released, it will compete with vehicles such as the Volkswagen Taigun, the Hyundai Creta, the Honda Elevate, the Kia Seltos, the Citroen C3 Aircross, and the Skoda Kushaq.
