Originally slated to take place in February 2022, the upcoming iteration of India's largest automotive expo now stands postponed until further notice.

With looming fears of a possible 3rd wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and other key organisers of the Auto Expo – The Motor Show have formally announced their decision to postpone the 2022 show indefinitely.

Originally, the show was scheduled from 2nd – 9th February 2022. Now though, the organisers will announce the revised dates of the show later this year, stating that the 'safety of exhibitors, visitors and all stakeholders involved and present at the expo is the topmost priority for SIAM.' However, the venue for the show, the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, is likely to remain unchanged.

This move by SIAM and other key stakeholders in the Auto Expo is certainly in the right direction. In fact, this goes to highlight the fact that social distancing norms, a key requirement for battling the spread of COVID-19, are more or less impossible to implement during a public event of this scale.

Hopefully, with the situation in control, we'll get to know the revised dates of the 2022 Auto Expo soon...
