Sonet, Seltos And More Fuel Kia India's Sales Growth to 48% in January

Kia has released its sales report for Jan 2023. The firm has recorded domestic monthly sales of 28,634 units in comparison to 19,319 units sold in the same month the previous year. The Kia Seltos, the Sonet, and more contributed to the sales performance of the company in the previous month.

Kia India reported its highest-ever domestic monthly sales of 28,634 units in January 2023. In comparison to 19,319 units sold in the same month last year, the company witnessed a boost of nearly 48% in sales. The Seltos and the Sonet contributed to Kia India's growth in January 2023 with sales of 10,470 units and 9,261 units, respectively. Following them were the Kia Carens, with 7,900 units, and the Carnival, with 1,003 units, sold domestically. Interestingly, the firm also surpassed the 6.5 lakh unit domestic sales milestone within its four years of operation in India. MoM increase of 88 % over December 2022, when the company sold only 15,184 units, has also been recorded, according to the Indian subsidiary of the South Korean automaker.

Commenting on the sales numbers, Hardeep Singh Brar – National Head, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said, "After closing CY2022 on a record high, we have witnessed an encouraging start to CY2023 with sales of 28,634 units in January. It reflects a strong demand for our products, and we are grateful to our customers for their continued love and support for Kia.''

He further added  ''It's a constant endeavour for us to keep evolving ourselves to suit the requirements of our new-age customers across segments. We exhibited our technology and design prowess at the recently concluded Auto Expo by showcasing the Kia Concept EV9 and the KA4. We also plan to introduce PBVs this year to offer a hassle-free and varied mobility experience for special services in India."

Kia India is reportedly planning to bring the long-awaited Carnival to India. On a global platform, the Kia Carnival comes with three engine choices: a 3.5-litre V6 MPi petrol, a new 2.2-litre Smartstream, and a 3.5-litre GDi V6 Smartstream. It is expected that a 2.2-litre diesel engine that could offer 200bhp and 440Nm will be made available in India. It will probably come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The model was unveiled at the recent Auto Expo.

The firm also showcased the EV9 concept, a three-row electric SUV prototype, at the 2023 Auto Expo. The vehicle's production version is likely to hit the domestic market soon. The Kia EV6, which made its debut in 2022, is offered in India for purchase at Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
