Ecstar was introduced in Japan by Suzuki in 1984. The brand went global in 2015, and is now sold in over 25 countries.

Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Motorcycles have collectively launched Suzuki’s global brand of lubricants, coolants and car care products in India - called Ecstar.

According to the Japanese automaker, the Ecstar range goes through more than 20 stringent tests with over 8,000 hours at the engine level, and 160,000km of vehicle level testing. The company claims that Ecstar products will greatly enhance engine protection by achieving thermal stability, and preventing sludge & deposits. Furthermore, for Suzuki two-wheelers, Ecstar is said to also improve throttle response and shifting performance.

Maruti will make Ecstar available through its NEXA chain of premium workshops initially. Progressively, the new brand will reach the company’s full service network of about 3,000 workshops across India. Ecstar products are compatible with all Maruti Suzuki cars. In addition to engine oils for both petrol and diesel motors, the Ecstar range for cars also includes products like injector cleaner, automatic transmission oil, underbody cost and screen wash.

In case of Suzuki Motorcycles, only Ecstar engine oil is introduced for now, which is compatible with all Gixxer models, along with Suzuki’s superbikes like Hayabusa and the recently launched GSX-R1000, among others. More products will progressively be added to the Ecstar range, for both cars and bikes.
