Yamaha India has in the recent past not launched any new performance bikes for the Indian market. It seems that they are content with the success of the Yamaha Fz S range and the R15, but in the global market Yamaha has been launching some phenomenal machines, and their latest is a 125cc entry-level sports bike that we would very much like to see in India. The new MT 125 looks awesome, and it takes its design cues from the MT range but is essentially a stripped down version of the popular YZF-R125 with a different fuel tank, seat, handlebar and foot pegs, to allow for an up-right riding position and to give it plenty of muscle and aggressive styling. The bike may have been launched in the European market, but it has a small capacity engine unit and features a 124.7cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 15bhp. The bike also weighs only 126 kilograms and with the monoshock suspension the bike is expected to be very maneuverable and easy to handle. Pricing is yet to be revealed, but the bike does come with very good features including a nice digital instrument cluster, disc brakes, and LED lights. Although there is no word on this bike coming to India, we really hope Yamaha has plans to bring more products like this to the country.
