The McLaren Artura was first introduced in 2021, but sales in the US didn't begin until the previous year as a result of quality control setbacks. Despite the offset, the British manufactured unveiled several enhancements, along with the 2025 Artura Spider, which comes equipped with a retractable hardtop, more power, and an updated suspension. This exact set of improvements also applies to the 2025 Artura coupe, excluding the detachable roof. Although the retractable hardtop roof of the Artura Spider adds 62 kg to the car's kerb weight, which now stands at 1,562 kg, McLaren claims that this still makes the Artura Spider lighter than the coupe versions of several competitors. The hardtop roof can be opened or closed in 11 seconds. According to the carmaker, the convertible Artura does not need additional chassis stiffening over the coupe because it was built from the ground up to support a Spider variant.

2025 McLaren Artura Spider: Engine Specs

The revised 3.0-litre V-6 engine, which debuted in the coupe last year, is coupled to an electric motor in the Spider, McLaren's first hybrid convertible. With 18.8bhp more power than the 2024 model, the system can now generate 681bhp for the back wheels. Although its peak torque of 531Nm remains the same, McLaren claims that enhanced torque delivery is the result of updated engine mapping. Moreover, that same 93bhp is produced by the axial-flux electric motor; the internal combustion engine provides all of the extra power.

The e-motor-equipped eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle continues to be coupled to the hybrid configuration. To minimise shift times by twenty-five per cent, the gearbox has been strengthened for 2025 with a new "pre-fill" feature. This is accomplished by pressurising the hydraulic fluid within the gearbox to the proper threshold, which makes the gearbox instantly ready to shift when requested. Power is distributed between the back wheels of the transmission via an electrically controlled differential.

2025 McLaren Artura Spider: Performance

As per McLaren, the Artura Spider can reach from 0km/h to 100km/h in 3.0 seconds and 200km/h in just 8.4 seconds. A top speed of 330km/h is electronically regulated. In addition to launch control, Artura receives another new feature called "Spinning Wheel Pull-Away." Mashing the throttle from a stop causes raucous wheelspin, and the system necessitates disabling stability control.

Practically speaking, the lithium-ion battery pack has been somewhat more efficient while maintaining a 7.4kWh capacity. The EPA-rated range is still 18-kilometre, but the company states to have squeezed out a few extra kilometres of range, offering up to 34-kilometre of electric-only driving.

2025 McLaren Artura Spider: Hardware

New mounts, which McLaren claims will better manage the powertrain within the chassis and enhance stability, steering feel, and overall handling should improve handling characteristics. To improve responsiveness by up to 90 per cent, the brand also made adjustments to the damper valving. Drivers can still select from three handling modes: Comfort, Sport, and Track. The amount of stability control intervention can also be changed.

Additionally, the Artura is equipped with updated cooling ducts, lightweight aluminum callipers, recalibrated ABS, and carbon-ceramic brake rotors for 2025. McLaren asserts that a new valved exhaust system with a tuned resonator has improved performance as well as the engine note. With the addition of an upward conical-shaped exhaust, the firm claims a "cleaner" sound in the middle and upper rpm range.

2025 McLaren Artura Spider: Exterior

Apart from the electrically actuated hardtop that retracts in under 11 seconds owing to eight electric motors, the Spider and coupe share an almost identical appearance. The typical hardtop is made of a carbon-fibre composite panel, but McLaren also offers electrochromic glass, which, at the push of a button, can change from opaque to transparent—blocking up to 99 per cent of the sunlight. Using the key, the roof can be opened and closed from outside while the vehicle is parked.

The droptop needed new buttresses, and part of those are made of glazed polycarbonate that channels air into the engine bay and aids with rear view. Further, there is a heated rear screen that can be raised and lowered with a button to enhance comfort while the top is down or to improve the V-6's sound quality when the roof is up. McLaren had to move the powertrain cooling vents further back due to the retractable roof and tonneau cover. These intakes included hot air outlets in addition to cooling apertures for the powertrain and roof storage.

The Spider's interior is identical to that of the current coupe model, with a small display that gives essential driving information placed in front of a straightforward steering wheel lacking buttons. Most of the regions will be provided with the bolstered Clubsport bucket seats as standard; however, heated, electrically adjustable comfort seats with a memory feature will be offered for free. Additional features include lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic detection, blindspot monitoring, road sign recognition, optional wireless charging, and adaptive cruise control. A faster vehicle front-end lift can also be had along with new carbon-fibre trim add-ons.

2025 McLaren Artura Spider: Price and Deliveries

Given that software enhancements account for the majority of the power gains, McLaren announced that it will provide current Artura owners with the upgrade at no additional cost.

With deliveries scheduled for mid-year, the order books for the 2025 Artura Spider and coupe variants are currently open. The latter is priced at USD 256,308 (approx. Rs 2.12 crore), whereas the former will begin at USD 281,008 (about Rs 2.33 crore). Meanwhile, the Indian portfolio of the automaker comprises models such as the Artura, the GT, and the 750S.
