Suzuki Motor unveiled its concept iM-4 at the Geneva Motor Show which is a compact car with brilliant fuel efficiency but also has a 4WD option.

Suzuki recently showed the world that a four-wheel system is not something only big and bulky SUVs can possess. At the Geneva Motor Show, the Japanese auto giant showcased its iM-4 – a compact car with all the possibilities of a small car with a 4x4 option. The minimalistic design philosophy opted by Suzuki for this car clubbed with latest fuel saving technologies makes this one of the most sought after cars in its segment.

Apart from a 4WD system, the car has a high ground clearance which makes it easy to drive around the city by also providing brilliant performance. The round roof that looks helmet-like, 18” tyres, front fascia and the slits on the C-pillar complement the performance of the car.

The car will be powered by a 1.2-litre DUALJET engine and SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild hybrid system that delivers exceptional fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. This system incorporates an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) providing engine power assistance using the motor. The system also features more reliable lithium-ion batteries.

The car will be based on Suzuki’s new generation platform that offers increased rigidity while reducing the vehicle’s weight. The underbody has been restructured to optimise the overall design of the vehicle. There are parts mounted on the underbody which offers better fuel efficiency, safety, handling and NVH performance.

Suzuki also mentioned that it will soon consolidate its existing four platforms to three in order to bring out new models in a more efficient manner to meet the demands of the market that is known to change at a fast pace.
