Kia Sonet, Seltos and More Could Get Expensive by Rs 50,000 from March 1

Kia India is most likely to hike the prices of its model owing to the introduction of RDE-compliant engines. In January 2023, the firm raised the prices of its vehicles by up to Rs 1 lakh in India.

Prices of all Kia cars are likely to increase from March onwards in India. Kia India will reportedly raise the price of its models due to the introduction of RDE-compliant engines. Beginning the next month, the diesel and petrol Kia Seltos models will likely cost Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively, higher than the current prices. The cost of the Sonet, on the other hand, with a petrol or diesel engine, will presumably increase by Rs 30,000 and Rs 45,000, respectively. There is no update about the price increase for the Kia Carnival as of yet. However, the Carens will reportedly witness a price increase of Rs 30,000 for the petrol version and Rs 50,000 for the diesel version. It is not Kia's first price increase of the year. Last month, prices increased by up to Rs 1 lakh.

Meanwhile, In January 2023, Kia India reported its highest-ever domestic monthly sales of 28,634 units. The company saw an increase in sales of approximately 48% from the 19,319 units, sold in the same month last year. The Seltos and the Sonet contributed to the firm's growth in the previous month with sales of 10,470 units and 9,261 units, respectively.

In related news, By the middle of 2023, the Korean carmaker plans to introduce the new Seltos in the nation. The new Seltos has reported undergoing testing several times on Indian roads. Currently, it is available in several international markets. Along with a new turbo petrol engine, the 2023 Kia Seltos will have an updated interior, exterior, and more. It will sport a new grille and headlamps. The interior of the upcoming SUV will include new upholstery, a larger infotainment screen, and a new instrument console.

Further, Kia India is reportedly in the works to introduce two new electric vehicles by 2025. The type and other specifics of the impending EVs haven't been disclosed by Kia, but an SUV and an MPV are most likely to be brand-new models. According to the industry reports, Kia has already invested Rs 2,000 crores in R&D, infrastructure, and EV production.
