Mahindra Thar 5-Door Spotted Alongside 3-Door Version, Shows Size Difference

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is visually different from the 3-door model, especially up front, where it has a bigger grille and LED headlights, but otherwise keeps the same shape as the 3-door model.

Mahindra has actively conducted extensive testing of the five-door variant of the Thar off-roader in the country over the last couple of years. The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door has been seen on multiple occasions during these test drives. In a recent sighting, the Thar 5-door was seen parked next to the Thar 3-door, which shows a visual difference. Compared to the previous generation, the Thar 5-door has undergone minor revisions to its front fascia, most notably the addition of LED headlights and a more optimised grille design. There have been changes to the SUV's back end as well. In addition to that, the five-door Thar is clearly a different size from its predecessor, both in terms of its length and overall width compared to its predecessor.

Mahindra Thar 5-door:  Design

The 5-door version's five-slat grille is shown in the most recent images. The slats are separated horizontally and then continue with a semi-exposed design. The spherical headlamps will remain, however, instead of halogen lights, projectors that may use LEDs will be installed. On top of that, the front bumpers look much like the ones on the 3-door version. Also, new 5-spoke alloy wheels will likely be standard on the next Thar.

Mahindra Thar 5-door: Interior

There will be a dramatic change to the inside of the next five-door Thar, with new upholstery, a warm brown colour scheme, and a redesigned cabin. Changes that stand out include a bigger infotainment system, a redesigned steering wheel, a digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming IRVM (Internal Rear View Mirror), a start/stop button, a reworked centre console, air vents in the back, second-row adjustable headrests, and two armrests forward.

Mahindra Thar 5-door: Powertrain

It is expected that the mechanical parts of the five-door Thar would remain unchanged from the three-door model, with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options. The diesel engine produces 130bhp and 300Nm of torque, whereas the petrol version can produce 150bhp and 320Nm of torque.

The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to have a price tag that falls somewhere in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom.
