Bookings for the MG Hector have re-opened for a limited period of time. MG India is looking to add a second production shift at its Halol facility by November.

MG India has officially re-opened bookings for the Hector after a period of two months since it stopped accepting bookings citing high demand for the SUV. However, it must be noted that MG has stated that it has re-opened bookings at the moment for a limited period of time. The company is now looking at ramping up production at its Halol facility to cater to demand by adding a second production shift from November onwards. In order to increase production, MG is also working with its global and local component suppliers. Internally, MG India would add 500 new employees to its workforce to cater to the second production shift.

The current priority waiting list for the Hector stands at 15,000 customers, and MG will reach out to these customers first to accept bookings at this stage. Bookings for the Hector can be made at MG India’s website or showrooms across the country for a sum of Rs 50,000. MG has factored in a price increase of up to 2.5 per cent for the Hector (depending on the variant) for the new round of bookings. However, this price increase is not applicable to customers who had shown interest in booking the Hector when the order books had first opened.

When the MG Hector was launched in India on the 27th of June earlier this year, introductory prices for the SUV ranged between Rs 12.18 lakh and Rs 16.88 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). The price range has now gone up to Rs. 12.48 lakh for the entry-level variant and to Rs. 17.28 lakh (ex-showroom pan India) for the range-topping variant. Prices in Kerala are slightly higher.

‘We are extremely overwhelmed with the response that MG Hector has received. As part of our commitment to customer satisfaction, we plan to retain the very special introductory prices for our first customers who have expressed full confidence in the MG brand during its launch. We are also working towards accelerating our production ramp-up to serve our new bookings at the earliest,’ said, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer – MG Motor India.
