Will be available with a manual as well as an automatic transmission option

In the recent past, we have seen a lot of new SUVs being launched in the Rs 20-30 lakhs price bracket, the most recent one being the Volkswagen Tiguan. Mitsubishi too wants to capitalise on this fast changing segment and to do just that, they have added a new variant to the Pajero Sport. The Japanese car maker has launched the new Pajero Sport Select Plus variant at Rs 28.9 lakhs for the automatic and Rs 29.3 lakhs for the manual transmission version. All prices ex-showroom Delhi.

To make this variant of the Pajero Sport stand out from the rest of the line-up, Mitsubishi has given it quite a few cosmetic updates. The most easily noticeable change is the use of dual-tone colour schemes with black plastic claddings all-around to make it look rugged. The car is available in four colour options – yellow, red, silver and white. The new Select Plus variant also comes with updates like chrome door handles, illuminated scuff plates and HID headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights. Other features include a DVD screen for passengers at the back, cruise control, a chiller and auto folding ORVMs. Aside from all these, the Pajero Sport Select Plus trim will come with most of the features from the standard model including dual-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment with navigation, reversing camera and more.

Apart from the cosmetic and some feature updates the Pajero Sport Select Plus variant remains more or less like the standard model. Under the hood, it hides a 2.5-litre turbo diesel unit that is good for 175bhp. Only the manual transmission version of the Pajero Sport Select Plus variant comes with 4WD. At 400Nm, the manual transmission version also makes 50Nm more torque than its automatic counterpart.

In the Indian market, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport competes against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, the newly launched Isuzu MU-X and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
