Toyota today launched the latest version of the Toyota Corolla Altis in India. Replacing the old model, the new Corolla is the 11th generation of the car, which was first introduced almost 50 years ago in 1966. Featuring a new design and platform, one of the biggest advantages of the new car is the increased room in the rear seat. Lengthened by 100mm, the new platform ensures that passengers sitting in the back get ample room. And responding to customer feedback, Toyota has increased the equipment count on its models with standard features now including LED headlamps, 16" alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, and touchscreen multimedia system with satellite navigation amongst others.

However, the engines available in the Corolla remains the same, with the petrol being the 1.8-liter unit carried over from the last-gen car, while the diesel duties are done by the 1.4-liter engine. As far as the gearbox is concerned, the diesel engine comes mated only with a 6-speed manual, whereas the petrol offers a choice between a 6-speed manual and 7-speed CVT automatic gearbox.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, “From the 9th generation in 2003 to the newly introduced 11th generation, the Corolla has bettered with each generation. The Corolla has stood the test of time. The key to its success is the faithful passing down of its original development concept from the first generation onwards.  We received a good response after we unveiled the vehicle at the Auto Expo in Feb and are currently booked for 3 months.  We hope the All New Corolla Altis, will further strengthen the brand in India and will also contribute to the growth of the C segment in India.”

Additionally, the new Corolla also features a brand new design which makes the car look much more aggressive and attractive than the last-gen car. The pricing for the Corolla has also been kept very competitive, with the petrol and diesel models starting at Rs. 11.99 lakhs and 13.07 lakhs respectively. The complete price list of the Corolla is as below:
