Sonet, Seltos and More Help Kia India Register 3.9% Year-on-Year Sales Growth in May

Kia India has revealed its sales numbers for May 2024. The company sold 19,500 in the domestic market, marking a year-on-year rise of 3.9% over the same period last year.

Kia India experienced a 3.9% year-on-year sales growth in May 2024, selling 19,500 units. Last year at this time, it sold 18,766 cars. The company's month-over-month sales fell by 2.34% from 19,968 units delivered in April 2024. According to Kia, the new Sonet was the best-selling car in the month, with 7,433 units sold. It was accompanied by the Seltos and Carens, which registered 6,736 and 5,316 units, respectively. Kia shipped 2,304 units to international markets last month, bringing its total production number to 21,804 vehicles. It achieved a significant export milestone of 2.5 lakh units. Model-wise, the Seltos made the largest contribution, accounting for over 60% of India's exports. With 34% and 7% of international shipments, respectively, the Sonet and the Carens trailed behind their sibling.

Hardeep Singh Brar – Senior Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, said, 'So far in this year, we have been aggressive in introducing new competitive variants of our models, which has contributed significantly to our sales'. 

He also added 'With a robust network expansion strategy in place, we shall continue to grow in the rest of the year and cross the 1 million domestic sales milestone soon'. 

Kia Upcoming Car Launches 

In the second half of 2024, the South Korean manufacturer plans to introduce the Carnival and the new EV9 in India. The all-new Carnival MPV will have more features and a sleeker look than its predecessor. It is expected to come with 12.3-inch twin curved infotainment and instrumentation screens. In terms of the powertrain, the MPV will retain its 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 200bhp and 400Nm.

Coming to the EV9, the SUV will likely be the priciest model in the automaker's lineup, with a price tag of approximately 1 crore (ex-showroom). It is expected to be available in two versions: an RWD model with a single 215bhp motor and a 76.1kWh battery, a driving range of 541 kilometres, and a dual-motor variant with a combined output of 380bhp.
