Exciting times lie ahead for BSA enthusiasts as Classic Legends, the proud custodians of the iconic brand, are gearing up for their long-awaited debut in India. Despite having acquired the legendary BSA brand some time ago, the grand unveiling on Indian soil will take place in 2024. The Gold Star 650cc motorcycle will captivate audiences and mark BSA's entry into the country.

BSA, which has already established a strong presence in several European regions, plans to extend its operations to Australia and the US by 2024, as a part of its worldwide expansion strategy. In addition, the plan encompasses Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and India, where the manufacturing of electric motorcycles will occur at Mahindra & Mahindra's factory in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. BSA, originally known as Birmingham Small Arms, produced firearms before expanding into motorcycles and bicycles. By the 1950s, it had emerged as the largest motorcycle producer in the world but encountered financial insolvency in the 1970s, resulting in an end of manufacturing. In 2016, the Mahindra Group acquired ownership of the brand.

In addition, Classic Legends obtained backing from the UK government, obtaining a £4.6m grant for the advancement of electric motorcycles. Although the main focus of development is in the UK, Joshi highlighted the advantageous collaboration with the UK consortium, which helps Mahindra & Mahindra improve its existing range of products.

The announcement of BSA's foray into the Indian market generates enthusiasm, especially in expectation of its rivalry with industry behemoths like Royal Enfield. The highly anticipated twin-cylinder concept and EV motorbike projects are expected to provide significant improvements and advances upon their launch later this year.

BSA Gold Star

BSA Gold Star 650's design philosophy honours the company's rich heritage. Featuring a unique fuel tank in the form of a teardrop, a comfortable upright riding position, and a seat positioned close to the ground, this motorcycle perfectly represents the classic cruiser style. Nevertheless, this tribute to customs is flawlessly integrated with current features, such as a streamlined LED headlight and fashionable taillight, imbuing the motorbike with a contemporary flair.

The Gold Star 650 gets a powerful 652cc, single-cylinder engine that produces an impressive power output of 44 bhp and a torque of 55 Nm. Although it may not compete for the title of the segment's most powerful engine, it provides sufficient performance for smooth highway driving and easy manoeuvring in urban areas, guaranteeing an enjoyable riding experience on every trip.
