Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Highlights
The Ninja 1000 is a sports touring motorcycle that’s also the entry ticket to the litre-class line-up from Kawasaki. The Ninja 1000 is designed to accommodate sports riding as well as urban riding. One thing that the Ninja 1000 has up its sleeve is that the riders can choose from a variety of power modes, which are available in many combinations suitable for a range of riding combinations.
Kawasaki has updated the Ninja 1000 for 2020 to meet the cleaner tailpipe emission criteria. Now called as the Ninja 1000SX, the litre-class sports machine from Kawasaki is now in its fourth-generation.
Exterior Details
As for the exterior details, the Ninja 1000 gets some cosmetic changes to distinguish it from the model it replaces. Kawasaki says that the Ninja 1000 is now more comfortable, thanks to the reworked pillion seat and windscreen placement. Moreover, the fairing has also been slightly reworked and the headlamps are now sharper too.
As for the overall dimensions, the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is 2,100mm in length, 825mm in width, and 1,190mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 135mm and a kerb weight of 238kg. Moreover, the wheelbase is a nice 1,440mm.
Engine & Transmission
This is where the Ninja 1000 is substantially different from its predecessor, as the 1,043cc four-cylinder engine is now upgraded to meet the stringent BS-VI emission standards. At 140.1bhp and 111Nm, the peak power and torque figures remain unchanged. The cleaner tailpipe emission criteria might affect the overall Kawasaki Ninja 1000 mileage, which we expect to be somewhere around the 15km/l mark.
Handling
As for the hardware, the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 new model is built around an aluminium twin-tube frame whilst the suspension duties are handled by 41mm inverted telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock with rebound damping and preload adjustability at the rear. The bike rides on a 120/70 ZR 17 section tyre at the front and a wider 190/50 ZR17 section tyre at the rear. The braking duties are handled by dual 300mm discs at the front and a 250mm disc at the back.
Features
As for the equipment, the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 new model now comes with a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT display, which features Bluetooth/smartphone connectivity amongst other things. It is also equipped with three levels of traction control, cruise control, different riding modes, and ABS as standard. The headlamps and taillamp both feature LEDs, in terms of lighting.
