Audi New A3
Change CarAudi New A3 Preview
The first-generation Audi A3, despite only being the entry-level model from the carmaker, looked, felt, and drove like an Audi should. A lower price tag – relative to the brand’s other models, that is – also helped the small Audi establish itself as a popular choice of wheels amongst the buyers.
The car you see above is the second-generation version of the A3, and it’s all set to enter the Indian market very soon. As it’s a new-gen model, the Audi A3 is completely different from its predecessor. Therefore, in its new avatar, the small sedan follows Audi’s latest design language, replete with a large single-frame grille, sharp headlamps with integrated DRLs – which, interestingly, will be different for each version of the A3 – and taillamps with unique LED signature are some of the design highlights of the new A3.
The same can be said for the interiors, as the new A3 goes big on technology. The top-spec variants feature Audi’s 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit, along with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. It is, of course, down on cabin room as opposed to the bigger A4, but the seats itself are quite comfortable and supportive.
The Indian-spec A3 is expected to feature a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with cylinder deactivation technology for increased fuel efficiency. The power will be sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. Diesel engines, altogether, will be given a miss.
When it arrives in the Indian market, the new Audi A3 will go up against the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A-class Limousine. Expect Audi to price it at a premium over its predecessor.
